Snapchat has launched a new initiative designed to support independent musicians and help them grow their presence on the platform. The Snapchat Sounds Creator Fund offers a grant of up to $100,000 per month to emerging artists, specifically those distributing their music through DistroKid on Snapchat. This fund aims to provide monthly financial support to creators who are gaining traction and driving cultural trends on the platform, regardless of their follower count.

Artists eligible for this grant can receive up to $5,000 for each song they submit, with a limit of 20 songs that can be funded per month. The focus is on supporting the creative output and engagement of unsigned musicians, making it easier for them to produce content and build their brands. Snapchat has emphasized that this initiative is geared towards fostering a deeper connection between artists and their fan base through music, similar to how platforms like TikTok have been driving trends.

The new program aligns with Snapchat’s broader efforts to integrate music more deeply into the platform. Earlier, Snapchat introduced Sounds on Snap, allowing users to add music to their videos, a feature that has been highly successful with billions of videos created. Additionally, Snapchat has partnered with Live Nation to offer augmented reality (AR) experiences at music festivals, further solidifying its focus on the music industry.

Through these efforts, Snapchat aims to attract more creators, foster innovative content, and position itself as a vital platform for music discovery and fan engagement.
